  • Clear definitions of when prior authorization can be used

Summary

This bill tried to change the section of the state insurance law about parity. Many of the proposed changes in this bill were also in SB 362 from the same legislative session, which was signed into law (and summarized above). Here is how this bill would have changed this section of the law differently than SB 362 (and what is currently in the law):

  • Requires plans to provide annual screening for behavioral health conditions
  • Requires plans to provide one screening for prepartum depression during pregnancy
  • Requires plans to provide one screening for postpartum depression within 6 months of giving birth
  • No cost exemptions for plans
  • No exemption for small employer fully-insured plans with less than 10 employees
